In this lesson we have a very special guest and someone I hugely respect as a bass player, educator, and human being. None other than SBL’s very own Danny Mo Morris.

Danny has been teaching here at SBL for over 3 years and the prestigious Berklee College of Music for over 30. We’re proud to have him as part of our team!

Anyway, let’s talk about what you’re going to be learning today…

In this lesson you’re going to see the one muting technique that all bass players should know in action (I learned it from Danny too!), and how you can open up your bass lines by using chromatic approach notes coupled with motif’s within your bass lines over a simple two chord vamp.

Danny is also going to discuss the use of “pedal points” within your bass lines. Showing you what they are, and then you’ll be able to watch a practical demonstration of how they sound when you implement them.

And make sure you check out Danny's bass... the flatwound strings he has on it are 19 years old. Now THAT is value for money! ;)
