Jermaine Jackson celebrates his birthday on December 11, 1954 into one of the greatest family rock groups ever.

After the run of hits on Motown, the group was considering leaving them for Epic when Jermaine decided to stay on at Motown and marry Hazel Gordy, daughter of Berry Gordy. The Jacksons went on to greater fame replacing him with Randy and they hit heights that approached their 60's output.

Jermaine worked with Stevie Wonder for this funk infused disco tune "Let's Get Serious" in 1980 and it became a massive R&B hit spending six weeks at the top becoming his biggest hit ever on that chart.

I instantly loved the heavy funk of "Serious" and when Stevie started singing his part I was in the stratosphere! I could use my Detroit moves on that one and it kept me on the floor for several nights in a row.

Jermaine would go on to record with Whitney Houston long before she broke with "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" on her debut album.
