We welcome HUGEhands back to Piston Recordings with the aptly titled, Funky Dumpty EP. Bristol, UK based HUGEhands is no stranger to us at PR, his last effort here – Everyday EP, proved popular and isa wonderful reflection of his dedication to music. Originally from the West Country, he developed a passion for dance music, spending the 90’s on the hunt for the next field rave. After learning the art of DJing and spending his formative years playing at top venues, he moved into electronic music production and now has an impressive release count in just a few short years. Great to see him back.

Funky Dumpty opens the EP, dishing out a fine, deep and grooving slice. Filled with lush pads and warm basses, the groove is expertly crafted with elegant design qualities. Powered by a solid drum and rhythmic percussion section, short vocal shots are joined by funky guitar riffs and mesmerizing melodies. Floating Keys is up next, injecting a larger dose of funk into the groove. Nice, chunky beats and crispy hats combine with rhythmic percussions to drive dancing feet to the floor. A deep, warm bassline controls the low-end as airy pads and delicate melodies converge through an array of instruments and FX. A powerful mover that will not disappoint. Just Keep On rounds out the release, delivering a superb funky groove. A display of vibrant, upbeat drums and flurries of percussions drive the groove as an infectious, soul invading bassline warms the track. Lush chords are joined by cool vocals as subtle arpeggios mesmerize. Outstanding work that is not to be missed.
